Feeding Tube
October 8th I went to Hershey Medical Center to have my feeding tube put in. Because my decline in breathing function combined with alot of choking and coughing while eating, they recommended I have the feeding tube put in. It's just another thing to get used to and a reminder of what ALS does to your body. I try to dwell on the things I can still do rather than what I can't. Not easy but I try. With God's help I'll make it. Thanks for all the prayers and support on my behalf.

Hey there George. What seems unbearable becomes managemable when we take it 5 minutes at a time. When a day at a time seems overwhelming, just do the next 5 minutes. Works for me...love you. Pray for you every day...

I had forgotten about your blog until I saw it on your FB today. After reading through you messages, I'm humbled, awed and ashamed. There is a blessedness that is coming from your journey that translates to me,(representing the healthy, but lazy). It is, I'm sure, just one aspect of the ministry God has entrusted you with through this. I hate that in order for us to glean from your dependence on God, you must accept this suffering. You are truly being conformed to the image of Christ; and I, for one, am grateful for the wisdom and insight you choose to share with us as you suffer. Hello - I've been following you for a few days. I am doing some research for a project for my Master's in Nursing when I found your blog. Just wanted to tell you that I think you are incredible and I'm glad that everything went ok for your G tube. :)

God bless you, Gordie. I came across this blog by chance -- no, by God's provision -- while researching feeding tubes. My mother's in Harrisburg Hospital and will have a feeding tube inserted on Wednesday. She lived alone a year ago, then had a stroke in January at 86. It's so difficult to watch, but like you, she is a believer, so to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. Saying a prayer for you tonight. drm
